Only nine more days to go...oh my!
Here's today's shot: the dilapidated fence at the back of my property. This is actually one of its more intact sections.
When Iain and I first moved in we talked to the neighbours who share that particular boundary with us about getting the fence fixed. We offered to sort out getting the fencing contractors in, if the neighbours would agree to go halves with us on the cost. They refused. 'There's another twenty years left in that fence yet!' they said. Very soon (hopefully), it will be Somebody Else's Problem.
And so to today's retrospective: black and white. There's a whole art to black and white photography which I've not even begun to explore yet. There's some intangible way in which a black and white image that's been created from a colour image isn't quite the same as an image that has only ever been monochrome. Maybe it's as simple as the difference between film and digital. Anyway, I'm rambling. On with the pics!
For me, black and white photos are radio and colour is more like television - in other words, there's more scope for using one's own imagination with black and white images. An interesting collection of pictures, Helen.
ReplyDeleteWhat an original analogy, Su. You're right - you do have to use more imagination when interpreting a black and white photo.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photographs Helen. So, only nine more days to go? And then what? This blog will stop? Will we still be seeing you online, blogging? I hope we will!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Karin. I've not decided yet what I'm going to do when this project comes to an end. I guess I've got nine days to make my mind up! :-)
ReplyDeleteWow, I'd forgotten just how amazing some of these shots were, Helen! I especially love the bird against the clouds and the reflected wooden poles ... oh, and the mist on the hill ...
ReplyDeleteI do hope some of these are in your purchasable art collection?
Thanks, Val. None of these photos are on my Imagekind page. If there's a particular shot you'd like to buy a print of, let me know and I'll upload it to Imagekind. I can't upload too many images there at one time, because they're full resolution files and I've got a very limited internet connection.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you didn't ask us to pick a favourite because these are all great. I like the two featuring water droplets though.
